Join us for an insightful presentation by Professor Donald West from the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) on:

Professor West will discuss:
- The history of ASALH, founded by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in 1915
- Dr. Woodson's initiative to recognize Black achievements, which began as Negro History Week in February 1926 and evolved into Black History Month
- ASALH's role in promoting African American history and how to get involved locally
The event will feature:
- Q&A session following the presentation
- Displays of Dr. Woodson's influential book "The Mis-Education of the Negro"
- Exhibits showcasing popular quotes and references from Dr. Woodson's work
This event is free and open to the public and offers an opportunity to learn about the origins of Black History Month and the ongoing efforts to celebrate African American contributions to society.
